what it costs

How much do ChatGPT ads cost in the UK?

UK advertisers can buy ChatGPT ads self-serve from £15 a day, with no minimum commitment, paying per thousand impressions, per click, or per click optimised towards a conversion. OpenAI publishes no UK rate card; in the US, trade press reported a CPM of about $60 at launch in February 2026 and effective CPMs as low as $25 by mid-April. In an AdBuyMCP plan, ChatGPT ads are one of the four channels and run in your own OpenAI ad account.

the unit

How are ChatGPT ads priced?

You set a daily budget and choose what to pay for: impressions, clicks, or clicks optimised towards one conversion you choose, such as a new lead. Self-serve buying has carried no minimum commitment; in OpenAI's managed US pilot early in 2026, Adweek reported commitments of at least $200,000.

What does the money reach?

OpenAI shows each ad below ChatGPT's answer, labelled as sponsored and kept separate from it, and says ads do not influence the answers. Ads are matched to what the conversation is about, using context hints you write, plus location and platform. OpenAI offers no job-title, company or industry targeting, and a customer-list audience needs at least 25,000 matched users. It reports impressions, clicks, spend, click-through rate, cost per click, CPM and conversions, and no reach or frequency. ChatGPT has 1.2 billion weekly users worldwide, by OpenAI's count, and only those on the Free and Go plans see ads.

beyond the media

What else should you plan for beyond the media?

A seller's headline price leaves these out.

  • You open and verify the ad account yourself

OpenAI asks each advertiser to open its own ad account, verify its identity and pass an account review, and then to invite whoever runs it.

  • The ad needs a short title, a body and an image

A standard ChatGPT ad carries your name and icon, a title of up to 50 characters, up to 100 characters of body copy and an image. In an AdBuyMCP plan, we write the title and the body and make the image, as part of your monthly price.

  • Conversion bidding needs OpenAI's tracking

To pay for clicks optimised towards a conversion, your site reports conversions through OpenAI's pixel, its server-side Conversions API or an image tag, and you see the results in aggregate only.

what first-time buyers miss

A £15 daily budget is an average across the week, so ChatGPT ads can spend £30 on a busy day and up to £105 in a week.

What do ChatGPT ads cost in an AdBuyMCP plan?

An AdBuyMCP plan buys ChatGPT ads with the other three channels for one all-in monthly price. The smallest plan, 3 times a week priced on a market of 10,000 people, is £3,000 a month, and we balance it across all four channels for your market.

All-in: the media, the ads we make for each channel from your website, the planning, buying and balancing across the four channels, and your weekly report, with no fee on top. Prices are shown before VAT.

Questions founders ask about what ChatGPT ads cost

Is there a minimum spend for ChatGPT ads in the UK?

OpenAI sets a minimum daily budget of £15 for an ad account billed in pounds, with no minimum commitment. The daily budget is an average across the week, so a busy day can spend up to £30.

What does a thousand ChatGPT ad impressions cost?

OpenAI publishes no UK rate card and no performance benchmarks. In the US, Digiday reported a CPM of about $60 at launch in February 2026 and effective CPMs as low as $25 by mid-April. No UK CPM or cost per click has been published.

Can a fintech, healthtech or legal startup advertise on ChatGPT?

Outside the US, OpenAI's ad policy generally prohibits financial and health services ads and prohibits legal services ads. If you sell in one of those categories, read OpenAI's ad policy and ask James Rooney before you plan around this channel.

Who owns the ChatGPT ad account in an AdBuyMCP plan?

You do. OpenAI asks each advertiser to open and verify its own ad account and to invite whoever runs it.
