The ad platforms' own MCP servers, and planning one budget across them

Each platform's connector operates one platform's account, and your budget runs across several.

Meta, Amazon, Google, Microsoft and Snap each now publish an MCP server. Meta's and Amazon's can create and edit campaigns, and Google's, Microsoft's and Snap's are read-only, according to each platform's documentation checked on 24 September 2026. Each works inside one platform's account, and none decides how a budget splits between Meta, Google, television, cinema, podcasts or a billboard. AdBuyMCP is built for that split: one sentence of audience compiled into the native targeting of seven UK channels, a published fidelity score for each, a budget split by goal with plan floors enforced, and one approval path.

A short application: five questions, no card. Approved accounts get the whole loop in their own sandbox, up to a monthly cap. Live spend is open to paid design partners.

key points

What to remember

These are the points most likely to change your decision, and the full guide follows below.

  1. 01

Each platform's MCP server is a door into that platform's account. It reports on campaigns there, can change them on Meta and Amazon, and sees nothing else in your plan.

  2. 02

A write-capable server spends through your existing billing on that platform. Meta lets an account owner set rules that withhold budget and campaign changes from an agent, and Amazon's announcement names no equivalent safeguard.

  3. 03

Read-only servers are the safe place to start. Pull each platform's reporting into one assistant before any agent gets the right to change a budget.

  4. 04

Splitting one budget across platforms and channels needs a layer that sees all of them, describes the targeting on each in one vocabulary and keeps one approval record.

  5. 05

These statuses move month by month, so treat every date on this page as the day it was checked.

01

The job is one budget across several platforms

A founder spending £8,000 a month has an allocation problem more than a Meta problem or a Google problem: how much goes where, what each line is actually buying, and whether the next pound does more on search, social, a podcast or a regional TV burst. The platforms' AI connectors answer a different question, which is how to operate one account faster.

That question is worth answering, and it is also why a connector per platform does not add up to a plan. Each one sees its own inventory, its own audience vocabulary and its own reporting. Nothing in any of them compares a Meta audience with a Sky AdSmart household attribute or a cinema audience pack, and nothing stops a line too small to do anything.

02

What each platform's server can do today

Here is what each platform says its server does, on its own pages and with its own dates. Two of them can change a campaign today, three are read-only, and the rest are announced, in alpha, or not found.

03

What none of them does

None of these servers plans across platforms, and none of the platforms' own pages says it does. That is reasonable: a platform's server exists to make its own account easier to run, and moving your budget to a competitor is nobody's job there.

Three things go missing when one assistant drives several of them. There is no common audience language, so "decision makers in fintech" means something different on each platform and nothing tells you how far each translation is from what you asked for. There is no allocation logic, so the split is whatever the assistant improvises, with no floor that stops a line too small to pace. And there is no single approval record, so a change approved in one conversation is invisible to the controls on the next platform.

The channels beyond the big platforms are missing altogether. UK cinema, addressable television and most named-show podcast deals are booked through sales houses, and a person there confirms the booking whatever connector your assistant has.

04

What a cross-channel planner adds

A planner sits above the platforms and does the three missing jobs. AdBuyMCP compiles one sentence of audience into the targeting each of seven UK channels accepts and publishes a fidelity score for each translation, so the plan tells you how much of your audience survived the trip into each channel.

It splits the budget by goal with the product's own weights, drops any line that cannot clear its plan floor and says so, and puts every consequential step behind one approval bound to the exact action. The agent's route and the browser's route are the same route: each of the 100 MCP tools wraps one REST endpoint the browser also calls, and eleven consequential operations have no tool at all.

The platforms' servers still earn a place beside that. A read-only server is a good way to pull each platform's own reporting into your assistant next to the plan, which is where you would compare them anyway.

05

How to use the platform servers safely today

If you are connecting an assistant to your ad accounts this month, this order keeps the money where you can see it.

Start read-only
Connect Google's, Microsoft's or Snap's server first. An agent that can only read cannot spend, and reporting is where an assistant saves you the most time.
Set Meta's rules first
Meta lets an account owner set rules on what an agent may do. Withhold budget, campaign and creative changes until you have watched it work on reporting.
Treat Amazon's server as write access
Amazon's announcement lists creating, updating and deleting campaigns and reading billing data, and names no safeguard. Connect it only to an account whose limits you would accept an agent reaching.
Keep the plan in one place
Decide the split across platforms before any agent touches a budget, and change it in one record, so an approval on one platform is visible when the next one moves.
Check the date
Every status in the table above changed within months of the one before. Check the platform's own page before you rely on it.

06

Why none of this sits in one directory

The official MCP Registry, which is in preview, holds metadata for publicly accessible MCP servers and does not support private ones. A search of it on 24 September 2026 found no first-party listing for any platform in the table above, although third-party servers for several of them were listed.

The registry lists servers that anyone can reach. AdBuyMCP's server is reachable only from an approved account, through that account's own deployment and access token, so it is not listed either.

The version of this that matters is the one with your own audience in it. Apply for a sandbox of your own, and once it is approved every channel gets scored against that audience, with nobody else in the room.

The limits of this guide

The platform facts above are each platform describing its own product, checked on 24 September 2026, and they change quickly: a beta can reach general availability, or gain write access, between one month and the next. AdBuyMCP's own connectors use each platform's advertising API. Its MCP server is how your assistant drives AdBuyMCP. AdBuyMCP runs it, each approved account connects to its own single-tenant deployment with an access token, and there is no public connector or registry listing. No AdBuyMCP rail has spent money yet: the plan, the scores and the approvals run end to end in a deterministic sandbox. Live spend is open to paid design partners.

If one of those limits is disqualifying, it is better established now than in week three, and a call establishes it in forty-five minutes.

Can an AI assistant run my ads on Meta or Google today?

On some platforms, yes. Meta's and Amazon's MCP servers let an assistant create and change campaigns there, and Google's, Microsoft's and Snap's let it read reporting. Each works inside one platform's account, so the assistant can operate each platform and still has no plan across them. Connect the read-only servers first, and set Meta's agent rules before you connect a write-capable one.

Is a platform's MCP server a media planner?

None of the platforms describes its server as one. Each server reads, and on some platforms changes, campaigns inside that platform, which makes it an operating tool for one account. A plan decides the split across platforms and channels before anything is bought, and that needs a view of all of them at once.

Does AdBuyMCP use the platforms' MCP servers?

AdBuyMCP's connectors use each platform's advertising API. Its own MCP server is how your assistant drives AdBuyMCP. AdBuyMCP runs it, your approved account gets its own sandbox deployment, and your assistant connects to it with an access token issued to your account. There is no public connector.
